Bio.

Juan Xavier Terán is an Ecuadorian photographer whose work is shaped by a life spent across continents. Born in Quito, Ecuador, he has lived in Washington DC, London, and Lisbon, each place influencing his perspective and deepening his connection to storytelling through imagery.

Before pursuing photography full-time, Juan co-founded Remu Apparel, navigating the fast-paced world of startups. Along the way, he found himself more and more drawn to the act of capturing moments—freezing time in a single frame, distilling emotions, light, and movement into something tangible. Photography became more than just a creative outlet; it turned into a way to make sense of transition, movement, and the fleeting nature of time.

With an unexplainable pull toward cold and remote landscapes, his work often takes him to vast, frozen environments where solitude and nature converge. These places, with their stark beauty and shifting light, have become central to his storytelling.

Now based in Lisbon, Portugal, Juan blends his entrepreneurial background with visual storytelling, working with brands, tourism boards, and publications to create compelling, immersive imagery. Whether in the heart of a bustling city or the stillness of an Arctic expanse, his work is driven by a search for authenticity, adventure, and the quiet stories hidden in the world’s most striking places.
